YOUR CHOICE BOOK COVER

I nearly died at 27 years old in an MCA, but was left with maxillofacial trauma instead. Three and a half years later I’ve decided to share my emotional journey so that other people with severe facial injuries can find comfort and know they’re not alone and that their feelings are justified despite the many objections. It should also serve as a guide for loved ones whose courage and desire to support offer immense love, but who may be lacking a true understanding of what the “broken one” is up against.

The first draft is complete and I will send the second draft once finished to my editor mid April. In the meantime I’d like to ask for your help in order to lock down the selection of the front cover. While talking with one of my very best friends, Vanessa Liwanag, she repeated something I had said and followed with, “That would make an awesome title.” I agreed and so did my editor: FACE IT. Now for the cover, my dear people, please help us find the best cover that will catch the eye and offer an emotional vibe.  

Your opinion matters and I will select the front cover of my upcoming book FACE IT depending on the majority vote. Please also feel free to leave comments. For example, perhaps your first choice template doesn’t have the colors you’d like to see or a letter typology that appeals to your eye, but because you really like the template, that’s the one you want to see as the front cover. My vote is for apples. Lol. I’m personally a sucker for b&w, but I think the contrast works really well along with the maroonish band in the middle. It really makes the features on your face and the gun very crisp and defined. You’re talking about a deep and traumatic event and for me, personally, it speaks more to what you’re book will be about.

If these are the only choices I like apples. But I think a combo of apples and bananas would be really cool, with half your face black & white, and the other half in color.

CARROTS 🥕 is definitely the most obvious choice, and although the gun is indeed distracting at first (could this be the cover of a detective story?) it powerfully suggests the deflagration caused by trauma. That’s why the shattered glass image works so well. I only wish it could reveal more of your eyes and that determined look.

In FIGGY LIKE PIGGY, I wouldn’t use the short text about “understanding the emotional imbalance”, which sounds extremely clinical, but I like the contrast between the two pictures, the black and white one in a short skirt showing a more sexy image 👠 as well as a vulnerable self. How about using that picture for the back cover? I also think you should keep the quote of GRAPES (“learning to be selfless in a selfie era”), as it brings home the reality and has a broader impact.

Not sure how to vote but I like carrots too … but would like to see it in b&w with the torn section more narrow … possibly to see a little more of your eye … and then crop out the gun … it’s too distracting to the cover as a whole 😀 xoxoxoxo ❤

I like guns, just not for your covers. I think it could be misleading as to the content since it’s not really what your story is about. (I didn’t think it was) I think your story is awesome and you don’t need the gun. Good luck and best wishes to you!

Honeydew. Don’t like the gun. Love your eyes in the photo they send a message of strength. Cover i see is that picture with shattered glass and a box covering the gun with title in it.

Honeydew- the pics are great but I think the gun throws me off a bit. It’s a real focal point on the cover but has nothing to do with the story, I’m guessing??
I’d like to see maybe a profile view of you to go with the title a bit
Or two profile views facing each other??
